We have reviewed 8 soft side dog crate products, and found these soft sided dog crate products as our winners. The criteria that we base all of reviews on are build quality of the product, safety, ease of build and installation, ease of cleaning, and of course, price.

The Dog Car Seat team found that the Radio Fence Soft dog crates are the most competitive on price in the US, and in the UK we were surprised to find Amazon the cheapest selling on behalf of Vital Pet Health. Both ranges of soft crates are really easy to put together. You literally have to insert two poles and the cage is ready to go. We also loved the material of these dog crates. The soft mesh allows your dog to see out easily, as well as providing great ventilation for your pooch in the car and in the house.

The soft dog crate cage that we found also won’t hurt your wallet. They start at $49.95 in the US, or around £40 in the UK, which is significantly cheaper that other products available. UK prices always seem to be slightly hiked compared to US which is a shame, but at least you wont get stung with expensive shipping. Here is a glowing review from one happy customer in the UK:

We reviewed a selection of ‘pop-up’ soft dog crates that just zip together without using metal poles to keep the structure durable. The idea of ‘pop-up’ crates sounded great to me at first. Of course, they would be even quicker than the dog crates with poles to insert. We quickly found a flaw with these products though. They are unfortunately not that great in the car. If you have to swerve suddenly or in case of a collision, the soft dog crates without metal poles would simply buckle and your dog may not be that safe.

That’s why we recommend getting a soft sided dog crate with poles to insert. Ok, it may take you a few seconds longer to put the crate together, but at least your pooch will be safe in the car.

Soft dog crates are recommended for crate trained dogs. If you have a puppy, a nervous or an aggressive dog, then it is best to go for a wire dog crate.

Why were these our favourite? Well, there are lots of reasons. Firstly…they come in at a great prices. We were really pleased to find these products from $34.99 in the US, and £23.95 in the UK. Secondly, they are all folding dog crates for easy storage, and they are great dog travel crates for travelling with your dog in the car.

A Deluxe Dog Crate usually means that it has been made out of fancy material sourced from some exotic location. To be brutally honest, your pet will be happy with a basic metal dog crate as a dog carrier.
